About

Lindsey Jones joined the Kraus Marine Mammal Conservation Program in 2024 to manage the North Atlantic Right Whale Catalog. She has over a decade of experience in photo-identification studies of cetaceans. She started at the New England Aquarium as an intern on the whale watch before going onto graduate school at College of the Atlantic, where her thesis analyzed the ocean-basin-wide movement patterns of North Atlantic humpback whales. She continued this collaborative research as the Director of Photo-ID Research at Allied Whale, College of the Atlantic, curating the North Atlantic Humpback Whale Catalog which included over 12,000 individual humpback whales at the time. She has been involved in diverse field research efforts in the Gulf of Maine, southeastern US, Australia and Greece. Her research interests include migratory dynamics, population spatial structuring and behavioral ecology of protected marine species.
