About
Jeremy Brodt is the Manager of the Permanent Galleries team. In his current capacity, Jeremy oversees the daily operation of the five Permanent Galleries (Freshwater, Cold Marine, Temperate, Tropical, and the Yawkey Coral Reef Center), including the filtration and support systems behind the scenes. Jeremy started his work at the Aquarium as an intern with the penguin colony in 2004 and joined the Galleries team shortly thereafter. He spent eighteen years running the Temperate Gallery, becoming an expert on leafy and weedy seadragons. Over the years, Jeremy has presented at many conferences about seadragons and is currently the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums leafy seadragon studbook keeper. Recently, Jeremy oversaw the first successful breeding of weedy seadragons at the New England Aquarium.
Jeremy has also won several awards allowing him to travel throughout the world to observe species in their native habitats. Most recently, Jeremy traveled to Curacao to observe deep reef fishes down to 1,000 feet in the Curasub (a five-person submersible). These experiences have helped Jeremy obtain a more thorough understanding of the species he cares for and has fostered the continued improvement of animal care and well-being throughout the Permanent Galleries.
