Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aquarium Tour Comes to the New England Aquarium
Activation to run from September 21–December 14
BOSTON, MASS. (September 10, 2024) – Familiar characters from the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game are coming to the New England Aquarium this fall as part of a partnership with Nintendo of America called the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aquarium Tour.
Beginning September 21, 2024, and running through December 14, the New England Aquarium will offer visitors the opportunity to explore the wonders of aquatic life with an Animal Crossing: New Horizons twist. This activation will give fans a chance to learn more about the real-world animals that reside in the Aquarium alongside the characters players may encounter in the game.
“Marine life that some players have only seen in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game have counterparts at the New England Aquarium,” said Suzanne Liola Matus, VP of Marketing, Sales, and Visitor Experience at the New England Aquarium. “The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aquarium Tour is a fun experience that utilizes the information from the game to highlight the diversity of marine life. While guests are here, they’re encouraged to explore and also learn about conservation efforts, including actions we can all take every day to ensure a vital and vibrant ocean for generations to come.”
Throughout the length of the activation, Aquarium visitors can expect:
- An Animal Crossing: New Horizons photo opportunity, featuring an aquarium-themed background with characters from the game.
- Themed signage throughout the aquarium featuring marine life descriptions presented by Blathers, the in-game curator, with information directly from the game.
- Standees of familiar characters from the game throughout the aquarium near a wide variety of exhibits.
- An opportunity to bring a piece of the game’s charm home by purchasing Animal Crossing themed merchandise from the Aquarium’s gift shop.
- The option to earn 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points* by checking in at My Nintendo kiosk on-site in the main lobby.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, escape to a deserted island and explore, create, and customize as you create your own paradise. Your island getaway has a wealth of natural resources that can be used to craft everything from tools to creature comforts. You can hunt down insects at the crack of dawn, decorate your paradise throughout the day, or enjoy sunset on the beach while fishing in the ocean. The time of day and season match real life, so each day on your island is a chance to check in and find surprises all year round. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on the Nintendo Switch family of systems.
