About
After working for five years as the associate veterinarian at the New England Aquarium, Dr. Melissa Joblon became the director of animal health in May of 2023. She received her DVM from Tufts University in 2016, then completed a two-year specialty internship in aquatic medicine and research at Mystic Aquarium. In addition to providing medical and surgical care to the New England Aquarium’s diverse animal collection, she supports the Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Program by managing the medical care of rehabilitating sea turtles.
Dr. Joblon is passionate about conservation medicine and research. She serves on the Right Whale Conservation Committee at the Aquarium, providing clinical and welfare expertise to aid efforts to protect the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. She also performs clinical research, presents at national and international conferences, and teaches multiple courses and seminars for undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary students.
