WHAT: Visit Central Wharf this weekend for a special performance by the Navy Band Northeast Brass Quintet, hosted by the New England Aquarium. As a part of Boston Navy Week, the Quintet will be performing a wide range of musical styles encompassing traditional and modern brass literature, from jazz to patriotic marches.

BACKGROUND: Established in 1974 and based on board Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island, Navy Band Northeast is one of 11 official U.S. Navy bands worldwide. Under the operational command of President, U.S. Naval War College, Navy Band Northeast inspires patriotism, elevates esprit de corps, enhances Navy awareness and public relations, supports recruiting and retention efforts, preserves the nation’s musical heritage, and projects a positive image of the Navy. Quintet performances include public concerts and educational clinics, as well as military ceremonies and receptions.
Boston Navy Week will bring between 50 and 75 Sailors from across the nation to volunteer throughout the community and discuss why the Navy matters to Boston. This will be the first Navy Week hosted by Boston and the surrounding communities since 2012.
