About
Christina Janulis is the MCAF (Marine Conservation Action Fund) Program Officer. Christina will be integral to accelerating MCAF’s continued learning and evolution around best practices in locally-led ocean conservation and trust-based philanthropy. She will also play a key role in amplifying MCAF’s outreach and communications efforts. Christina is a program manager, science writer, and PADI Divemaster. She has spent the past three years building an early career program for ocean professionals at The Explorers Club (TEC), “Blue Generation,” which brings an international cohort of 30 emerging ocean scientists, policymakers, writers, artists, and more to TEC headquarters in New York City during World Oceans Week to participate in sessions on career-building and trends in the ocean space. After completing her degree in Integrative Biology at Harvard in 2021, Christina worked as a penguin caretaker at the Lisbon Oceanário, a dive guide in San Diego, a marine science field tech in Papua New Guinea, and an assistant underwater photographer in the Red Sea. Since moving back to Boston, she has written science communication articles and worked with a lab at the Harvard Herbaria to incorporate plant biodiversity metrics into a floral still life exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She is also a landscape history enthusiast and a “mediocre” ukulele player.
