The Aquarium is nearing the completion of a top-to-bottom, 21st century transformation of the Giant Ocean Tank. Nearly 2,000 animals are being gradually added to the Giant Ocean Tank and most of the penguins that have been moved to an off-site holding facility will be back in their main exhibit by July 1. Scope and Features

The 10-month project is rebuilding the Aquarium's signature central exhibit—the Giant Ocean Tank, which is already considered to be one of the most complex and sophisticated aquatic exhibits in the world. But that's just part of the project.

Penguins on Vacation

Most of the penguins that normally live at the Aquarium have been moved to an off-site holding facility. The smallest penguin species is still on exhibit at the Aquarium. You can visit the little blue penguins in a temporary exhibit out the back doors.

Five Years of Progress
